ICPD at 10: From Family Planning To Sexual and Reproductive Health Care

Publication Date: 03/03/2004
Description: The past 50 years have seen incredible change in the sexual and reproductive health field. In 1954, contraceptives were illegal in most countries. Now more than half of all married women use them worldwide. Population “control” came into vogue, and before the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), many international family planning programs emphasized that mentality: numerical targets, social pressure and birth quotas.
