"The President and his administration have made a grievous mistake in their determination not to release this year’s funding to UNFPA."

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Crowley reacted to the decision of the Bush administration to withhold funding from UNFPA, for the fourth year.
“It is shameful that once again this Administration has decided to withhold funding from UNFPA. The President's decision is a devastating blow to the programs that provide family planning, reproductive health, and general health services to women and their families around the world. The United States, which should be a leader in protecting women’s health, has instead let down millions of women worldwide for political gain. UNFPA does not fund abortion services or promote abortion in China or anywhere else as a method of family planning anywhere in the world. This has been documented countless times, including by the President's own fact-finding team. In fact, UNFPA, through providing access to family planning reduces the number of abortions. The President and his administration have made a grievous mistake in their determination not to release this year’s funding to UNFPA.”
