What:              Pharmacy Access Partnership will be distributing materials and talking to UC Berkeley students about Plan B emergency contraception as a part of the national Back Up Your Birth Control Day of Activism.

The Back Up Your Birth Control Day of Activism is a national campaign to promote awareness of emergency contraception, which can prevent pregnancy if take within 5 days of unprotected sex.

In August 2006, the FDA approved Plan B for over-the-counter sale for consumers 18 and older; women 17 and younger still need a prescription to obtain Plan B.

                       12 – 1 pm

Who:               Pharmacy Access Partnership, an Oakland-based organization dedicated to promoting increased access to reproductive health services in pharmacies.

Where:            UC Berkeley Campus, Sproul Plaza

Why:               Pharmacy Access Partnership seeks to promote increased access to Plan B emergency contraception in pharmacies.  College-age women need to know that they can get Plan B over-the-counter if they are 18 or older, with a doctor’s prescription (for women of any age), or directly from specially trained pharmacists who can provide Plan B without an advance prescription from a doctor or clinic (for women of any age).
