ICPD Programme of Action
After vigorous debate, more than 180 countries agreed to adopt the 16-chapter ICPD Programme of Action in 1994. The 115-page document outlines a 20-year plan to promote sustainable, human-centered development and a stable population, framing the issues with broad principles and specific actions. Immigration
The process of entering one country from another to take up permanent or semi-permanent residence.
Immigration Rate
The number of immigrants arriving at a destination per 1,000 population at that destination in a given year.
Infant Mortality Rate
The number of deaths of infants under age 1 per 1,000 live births in a given year.
